Let's talk real TV capabilities.

2020-01-21

This week I discuss my impressions of the PS4 Back Button Controller Attachment, Sony games heading to PC, quantity of consoles sold being an outdated metric, and Microsoft's backward and forward compatibility stance.

2020-01-11

This episode I discuss how absolutely ridiculous the "console wars" really are. From click bait headlines, to arguing over logos, to not understanding the "specs", to not researching what hardware is actually in the plastic box you are buying.  The big box gaming media sites are not doing anyone any favors as they seem just as uninformed and are trying to capitalize on click bait.

2020-01-05

This week an analyst got people hopes up for a 4k “Switch Pro.” Let’s talk realistically about what would be needed to make that happen.

2019-12-30

On today’s episode I am going to explore reviewing games as a Fan vs. Critic, why I think game reviews are broken, and I provide some examples by converting Metacritic score to Rotten tomato’s.

2019-12-14

Talking the Xbox Series X announcement and gamer's ridiculous reactions to everything. sdfsdf

13:30 - Microsoft Game Pass

37:40 - Game Awards a Disservice to Gamers

2019-10-24

Stadia is insane, how haven't they solved the internet infrastructure problems in the world. I'm bringing back reviews and have already written most of my Luigi's Mansion 3 review. Bethesda is taking advantage of me with a Fallout 76 subscription model. Blizzard needs to be reprimanded even after we cancelled them after they layoffs they had earlier this year.

2019-09-05

Microsoft, Gears 5, gamer's arguing about Gears 5 review scores, Astral Chain, Control, Ray Tracing

2019-09-04

Level setting on the podcast, what I discuss, where I discuss it, and why I discuss "it."

2019-06-09

Rumors are floating around about a an Xbox streaming console code named Scarlett, what does it mean for you.  This episode Mike discusses the current state of gaming expectations, why hardware sales don't matter, what the future looks like, Micorsoft Azure Cloud, how streaming can eliminate latency, and how it provide more people with ways to play while meeting their expectations for quality.

2019-05-02

On this episode Mike discusses the continued saga between Epic and Valve, Epic purchases Rocket League developer Psyonix, Nether Realm is under fire for stress and burnout while the games media continues to paint an entire industry based on the word of disgruntled former employees, and it wouldn't be a podcast without discussing the cluster F that was Days Gone coverage.

2019-04-13

On this weeks episode Mike discusses the leaked e-mail from BioWare GM, Casey Hudson, and why it further proves the point that anonymous complaining to outlets is also a culture problem. Also introduced is a new segment called Jack@$$ journalism. This week the topics include narratives perpetuated by the games industry, writing off Epic game store concerns because we should be worried about false narrative, and our low standards for Nintendo.

2019-04-06

Is the Epic store and epic games growth strategy smart business, laziness, or BS? Might be all three. Gamers demand an easy mode in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. What happened to Nintendo, they now specialize in forgettable and uninspired platformers and boring adventures.

2019-04-05

It's another week and we have more drama surrounding the games industry, work environments, and unionization. This time the media takes aim at BioWare. Let's talk about it.

2016-07-19

The term console wars has become nails on the chalkboard for those that don't care where people game, yet it continues to be a term thrown around in comments sections and message boards as a short sighted way to show allegiance to a brand.

In this episode I cover why the console wars at a competitive business level is good for gaming, while discussing why it’s still a stupid conversation for consumers arguing why the way they spent their money is better than someone else.

It’s possible that the console wars can exist at a level that is good for gamers, if gamers stopped caring about brand allegiance and started caring about games again.

2016-07-18

2016-05-27

On this episode of Cereal at Night I wanted to clarify my thoughts and opinions about Uncharted 4.  It's not that I think it's a bad game, I just don't think it's groundbreaking with it's antiquated, repetitive gameplay.

In the second half of the show I once again discuss iterative console releases; specifically the details surrounding the Xbox Scorpio and the PlayStation Neo. I will then dive into what I think this means for gaming and where I will spend my money.

Also discussed, the Nvidia GTX 1080, Sennheiser Headphones and Sim Racing Cockpits and Wheels.

2016-05-08

This episode I have done a full 180 on my stand on the iterative console releases for the Xbox One and the PS4.  Also Nvidia announces their new Pascal cards; the 1080 and 1070.

2016-05-02

Retro Jonez is back and this week we cover a variety topics. First up is our rekindled love for handhelds including the Vita and 3DS.  Next we roll into some brief arcade conversation.  Third segment we roll into collecting, a pile of NES events stadium events were uncovered, but some of the same people being champions for the selling of these cartridges are arguing the point they champion. The PlayStation 4k is a thing, but not really.  That said, the iterative console release is, and the specs have been leak.  I discuss on this episode.

2016-04-10

This week is a bit random.  I talk about some of my favorite podcasts and why, a new PC upgrade, Destiny, and why Destiny has been my gaming kryptonite.

2016-03-28

This episode I am going to cover what the iterative console releases could look like hardware wise if they happen and what kind of expectations we should have for them.

2016-03-27

2016-03-19

On this episode I talk about my initial impression of The Division and how I think it will hold of for the long term.  I will cover my thoughts on Sony announcing they are also exploring iterative console releases, and event threw out the idea of 4k as a possibility.  Then I will discuss the ridiculous arguing over the Gears of War framerate.

2016-03-03

2016-01-23

On this episode I wanted to take a look at most of the headphones I have used and give an overview on how they work for gaming.    I know I left out some great brands and options, Beyerdynamics, Steel Series, Logitech to name a few.  I didn't include them because I didn't have an experience with them.  That said hopefully the conversation will help decide on the type or style of headphone you are looking for.

2016-01-12

The Oculus Rift and it's consumer release has become the topic of conversation since they announced the $599 price tag.  With this price tag the internet got angry, and people got angry at the internet(people whom are also on the internet).  Accusations of why people were angry got tossed around and everyone pointed fingers, myself included. But, I wanted to at least try to clarify my stance as an Oculus user and early adopter of the DK2.

2016-01-11

This episode is all Oculus.  As early adopter of the DK2 we have some pretty big opinions on the commercial release. Virtual Reality is not dead, but it's not a day one adoption for us.

2016-01-05

This episode I tackle gamers that think every game needs to be a game that they want to play.  I also discuss gaming headsets and what direction I will take with my future purchases.

2015-12-16

Destiny 2 can't come soon enough; that feels weird to say barely a year after release and a game I have spent more than 300 hours with.  Recently there have been quotes from Bungie and Activision that are a cause for concern about support of the current release. This could also mean is all hands on deck for Destiny 2.  Bungie wasn't going to be able to support both current and last gen systems forever and it seems this is a period of transition.  I discuss on this episode of Cereal at Night.

2015-12-15

This episode Mike jumps into the inability for people to not argues about resolutions or where people choose to play games, then moves on to some PC gaming GPUs and what performance to expect, and the show is littered with references back and forth about the pros and cons of PC and Console gaming. Enjoy.
