Thomson TO9

The Thomson TO9 came out in 1985 and was an upgrade of the Thomson 7/70. The same Motorola 6809e was used, but some of the capabilities were improved.

The TO9 had 128kB of RAM, and a whopping 136kB ROM which contained a word processor, and a database, making this machine attractive for business users.

Sound was upgraded as well, and this computer could play three channels simultaneously with a range of 7 octaves. There were plenty of ports available: Joystick, Mouse, Centronics Parallel and 3 bus slots as well as a cartridge connector. The machine could be expanded with an RS232c port, a modem and a genlocking feature. The first machines came out with a 5.25" disk drive, which was quickly replaced with a 3.5" floppy drive.
