PC Engine Duo-R

The PC Engine Duo-R was released by NEC Home Electronics in 1993 for the Japanese Market. It was a more slick white design of the PC Engine Duo to reduce manufacturing cost, and ultimately sales price to boost sales.

The PC Engine Duo-R omits the 3.5mm headphone connector, and the locking switch for the lid of the Duo's top loading CD-ROM drive. The unit has an off-white color and the chasis is shaped differently to reduce manufacturing cost.

The PC Engine Duo-R is the 2nd release of the PC Engine Duo in a series of 4 releases.
